Stay Present and Let Us Take the Stress Out of Holiday Baking
The holidays are a fun — and stressful time. It can be challenging trying to juggle presents, baking, cooking, and everything else in between. So take a step back this holiday season and be present with those who truly matter.
1. Set the Mood
Before you get started, you need to set the holiday vibe in your home. A great place to start is with some delicious-smelling holiday candles with scents like evergreen, cinnamon, spiced orange, and cranberry. After the candles have been lit, put on some of your favorite holiday tunes. There are tons of holiday playlists to check out on Spotify and Pandora.
2. Get in the Holiday Spirit
Once the mood is set, it’s time to get in the holiday spirit by decorating the entire house inside and out. String those lights, hang those stockings, and put up that tree. No matter how cold it is outside, transform your home into a winter wonderland with garlands, bows, and nutcrackers. When your home feels festive, you will, too!
3. Capture the Moments
It’s easy to simply go through the motions during the holidays without taking the time to capture the moments. Years down the road, however, you’ll wish you did. And you don’t have to book a photographer for professional family photos to effectively capture your memories this holiday season. Instead, opt for a few selfies that are more authentic and more entertaining.
4. Take Time to Recharge
It can feel like you’re constantly running around during the holidays, whether you’re rushing to the store for that last present or stopping by the grocery store for more baking ingredients. It can be incredibly exhausting. So instead of staying up all night wrapping presents or baking cookies for everyone on your list, make sure to take time to recharge. After all, you’re supposed to be on vacation!
5. Have Fun
If you feel like the holidays are just filled with work and stress to the point that they aren’t even enjoyable anymore, then you need to change your mindset. Instead of stressing about what you should be doing, it’s important to take the time to do things that you actually enjoy. For example, if you’re not a baking expert, go out to look at Christmas lights instead. Or if you’re not personally a fan of wrapping presents, enlist the help of others or pay to have them professionally wrapped.
6. Unplug and Let Go
We all spend too much time on our phones these days and unfortunately the holiday season is no exception. While it can be tempting to constantly check social media to look at everyone’s fun holiday activities and family photos, you should try to unplug and let go. It might help to delete your social media apps until after the holidays are over. Or you may want to leave your phone at home when you’re out looking at lights or heading to a holiday party. Just do what you need to do to unplug, let go of comparisons, and be present in your own life.
7. Wrap Presents
To some, wrapping presents can be a chore. But to others, it can be a fun and creative task. No matter which category you fall into, try to make the best of it. Buy some pretty wrapping paper and matching bows. Practice your newly-found calligraphy hobby on your gift tags. Go the extra mile with cute embellishments like candy canes, pine cones, or pine sprigs. Your wrapping efforts are bound to wow your family and friends before they even open their gifts!
8. Enjoy Holiday Activities
There are so many different holiday activities to enjoy this time of year. Try to create your own holiday traditions with enjoyable activities with loved ones. For example, you could host a holiday movie night complete with popcorn and drinks. You could hold a gingerbread house-making contest. You could even attend a local Christmas production or listen to carolers sing your favorite Christmas songs. No matter what you choose to do, just make sure it’s something that you can truly embrace. Take the time to actually enjoy it.
9. Leave the Baking to Us
For instance, if baking cookies and other sweet treats for everyone on your list isn’t something you particularly enjoy, you can still gift delicious desserts to your family and friends with none of the work thanks to Bougie Bakes. Bougie Bakes has an incredible collection of gluten-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free healthy desserts for everyone on your list — even those with dietary restrictions.
Our holiday collection features delectable red velvet chocolate chip cookies, peppermint brownie bites, vegan ginger spice cookies, and vegan red velvet chocolate chip muffins. We truly have something for everyone — including your dogs with our line of Bougie Barks treats flavored with peanut butter and ginger.
10. Spread Some Holiday Cheer
The holidays are a great time to be thankful for what you have and to give back to those less fortunate. Even if you don’t give financially, there are things you can do to spread the holiday cheer this year. You could pay it forward in the drive-through. You could leave a generous tip for your favorite waitress. You could gift sweet treats to your mailman, garbage man, delivery man, etc. as a thank-you for their hard work. Just remember that it doesn’t take something big to make a big impact.
